What enclosure materials are available for your products?

Polycarbonate, ABS plastic (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), painted steel sheet, acid-proof stainless steel (AISI316L), stainless steel (AISI304), and aluminium.

Do you offer UL products?

Yes. Here you can find a wide selection of UL/CSA-listed products from all our product categories for the North American and Canadian market.

Do you offer EMC or ATEX protected products?

Yes. We offer EMC-protected products in all enclosure materials.


ATEX-protected products are available in stainless steel and aluminium enclosures.
Note: EX protection class is ATEX II 3D, Zone 22 (for dust-classified areas).

Do you offer fire-rated safety switches?

Yes. We offer aluminium enclosed fire-rated safety switches in class F200 (200°C for 3 hours) and class F300 (300°C for 2 hours).

What's the difference between Katko's FR and FR3 switches?

Katko's FR switches are designed to conform to F200 class of EN 12101-3 smoke and heat standard. This requires that the switch remains operational in 200° C for 120 minutes (switch remains operational for 180 minutes). Katko's FR3 switches conform to class F300, which requires the switch to remain operational for 60 minutes in 300° C (switch remains operational for 120 minutes).

Do you offer switches in stainless steel enclosures?

We offer enclosures in acid-proof stainless steel (AISI316L) as well as standard stainless steel (AISI304)

What is the difference between KUM and KEM?

KUM and KEM are almost the same, but the main difference lies in the switch inside the enclosure. The KEM model represents the latest high and modern technology, and has a more compact structure, which provides more installation space for cables in small enclosures.

What is the naming basis for Katko's safety switch product types?

KATKO switches are named according to the number of poles and AC-22 690V ratings of the switch. For example, KER 340 enclosed switch has 3 poles and it's AC-22 690V rating is 40 amps. First part of type name of enclosed switches comes from the material of enclosure. KEM is for plastic, KET is for sheet steel, KER is for stainless steel, and KEA for aluminium.

Do your enclosed safety switches include N or PE terminals?

Yes, many enclosed products are equipped with N and/or PE terminals as standard. Required terminals can be specified per product according to customer needs.

What is the operative temperature range of Katko switches?

Katko switches operate in ambient temperatures between -40°C and +80°C.
If the ambient temperature exceeds +40°C, the load of the switch must be reduced.

What is the IP rating of your enclosed products?

As a general rule, the IP rating of our enclosed products is IP66. Stainless steel enclosures are available up to IP69K up to size RA4. Switches with aluminium enclosures are available in IP67.

Can I connect aluminium cables to Katko switches?

Yes.

But you need cable connectors, such as KATKO KKL cable connector series, in order to connect aluminium cables to KATKO switches with terminals.

Do you have enclosed switch fuses?

Switch fuses are available enclosed in the same enclosure materials as our other switches.

Which auxiliary contact fits a specific switch?

Which products are compatible with the FP front plate? What does the FP front plate do?

The FP front plate is compatible with the new KEM/KER/KET/KEA models from 10A to 40A.


The FP front plate enables installing four auxiliary contacts into one safety switch (2NO + 2NC), leaving more installation space for cables in small enclosures.


The biggest benefit of the FP front plate is that the new KU 16–40A switches can be brought to DIN cut-out level on the panel.

Do you manufacture busbars?

Busbars are not part of our product range.

Where and how is the functionality of your products tested?

Every switch is approved according to the applicable standards, which require 100% testing of the products.


The KU 16-40A, KU 160, and KU 250–800 products are additionally marked with a serial number, enabling us to retrieve individual test results afterwards.


KU(N) series and KU 4-pole products do not have serial numbering, but they are also 100% tested.

Additionally, random quality tests are performed on enclosed products by our quality department.
